Mercedes Schlapp doesn't have an simple job as the White House strategic communications adviser. As the White House Strategist Communications Advisor Schlapp faces a myriad of issues. Her attention in March was when she came up as one of the candidates to succeed Hope Hicks. Mercedes Schlapp isn't in a comfortable position as White House strategist communications advisor. The job can be difficult due to the fact she is working with a White House president who acts as the director of his communications. There are also numerous legal cases which can disrupt an administration's message strategy, and a number of Cabinet secretaries are caught up in their personal controversies. Schlapp has managed to stay focused and on task by working closely with White House teams in political matters, legislative affairs and policy as well the larger communications team. The focus of her work has been on areas including school safety, opioids and infrastructure, as well as trade. The reporter doesn't get to interact very much in her present position. However, in March her name was floated as a candidate to take over Hope Hicks at the Communications Director post. The fighting has been nasty. Allies to Schlapp and Tony Sayegh one of the other candidates for the post have been fighting over the media.
